Following auditions, Hollywood week, sudden-death rounds and several shocking eliminations, America (via call-in, texting and online voting) chose the five men and five women with a reported 39 million votes, according to Seacrest. The Season 12 top 10 contestants are Lazaro Arbos, Janelle Arthur, Curtis Finch Jr., Candice Glover, Kree Harrison, Amber Holcomb, Paul Jolley, Angela Miller, Burnell Taylor and Devin Velez.
"I think America definitely did, yes," Jackson, 56, told reporters after the show.
And his fellow judge Urban agreed. "I feel really good about the top ten," he said. "I love how diverse it is and I love that they get guys like Devin and they get guys like Burnell and they get girls like Candice because it's not like they just choose star-power people or they just choose crazy-hot people. I mean, they chose singers that they connected with. I love that."
After earning a spot in the top 10, contestants took the stage to perform a few victory songs -- and Urban admits he got a little emotional during it.
"When Angie sang, she was welling up so it was somewhat contagious," the 45-year-old country singer explained of Miller's performance of Beyonce's "I Was Here." "It's emotional because I get it, it's only one song from us for them, but it's their whole life and career in that moment, so I really get it."
