By all accounts, Bill Clinton brought the house down in Charlotte, NC Wednesday night.
In a stirring, 48 minute speech making the case for his Democratic successor's reelection, the 42nd president of the United States delivered remarks praising President Barack Obama's performance thus far -- and explaining why he deserves another four years in office.
Those viewing the convention at home, and on the Time Warner Cable Arena floor, went wild, tweeting their reactions to Bill's humorous, heartfelt missive. (The Washington Post totaled the tweets fired off during Clinton's speech, which lasted between 10:35 and 11:23 pm -- a staggering 496,222.)
(President Obama will take the podium -- and formally accept the Democratic party's nomination -- on Thursday night, with Eva Longoria, Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and the Foo Fighters among the A-listers expected to be in attendance in Charlotte.)
Below, some enthusiastic reactions from famous folks, including Olivia Wilde, Whoopi Goldberg, Samuel L. Jackson and more:
Bill, lookin good. #veganfox
Clinton was amazing tonight! Spoke the truth about our choice this election! #dnc2012
there was more specificity in bill clinton's speech tonight than in the entire three days of the RNC. so grateful for his intellect!
Clinton has the "Destruction! TERROR! And Mayhem!" part of LL Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You Out" playing on a loop in his head.
That subtle throat-sob when Clinton said, "I love this country" = Hendrix setting his guitar on fire. #DNC
