Chris Brown requests permission to skip Washington, D.C. court hearing

WENN, Friday, November 22, 2013, 10:58am (PST)

Chris Brown's lawyer has asked a judge to excuse the embattled singer from a court hearing in Washington D.C. next week (begs25Nov13) so he can remain in Los Angeles for anger management treatment.

The Kiss Kiss hitmaker is due to appear before a judge on Monday (25Nov13) in relation to a charge of misdemeanour assault following a fight outside a Washington, D.C. hotel last month (Oct13).

The arrest prompted Brown, who has pleaded not guilty to the count, to seek professional counselling in Malibu, California for his temper troubles, but he was kicked out of the facility just 13 days later after reportedly hurling a rock through his mother's car window following a disagreement.

The incident was revealed in documents submitted to a California judge on Wednesday (20Nov13) as part of his probation review, during which Brown was ordered to spend 90 days in a live-in rehab centre in Los Angeles and submit to random drug testing.

As a result of the counselling punishment, his lawyer, Mark Geragos, has appealed to the official overseeing his Washington, D.C. criminal case to allow the R&B star to sit out the hearing, reports TMZ.com.

The judge has yet to issue a ruling over the request.
