Chris Hemsworth: My Mom Thinks I'm the Girliest of Her 3 Sons

Chris Hemsworth plays a beefy, steely superhero in The Avengers, but in real life, the Australian-born actor is actually a mama's boy.

"My mum always used to say to me that, out of her three boys, 'Chris, you were the girl,'" the 28-year-old tells the May issue of OUT. "I'd speak to her about far more things than [my brothers] would and far more things than she needed to hear about, too. I was a chatty kid." (His brothers Luke, 31, and Liam, 22, are also actors.)

Long before he played Marvel Comics' Thor, Chris played a troubled teen on the Australian soap opera Home and Away from 2004-2007. The experience gave him the opportunity to hone his craft -- and learn a few life lessons -- in a safe environment.

"I was able to make mistakes, and no one gave a sh-t about me," Chris says. "You come to America, and, if you do a big TV show, then you can be overexposed, or old, before you're new. You get the positives from an Australian soap without the negatives."

He eventually moved to Hollywood, and, years later, his younger brother followed suit. "I'm reminded, now that my little brother's working a lot, how much more interesting he is," Chris says of Liam, who recently starred in The Hunger Games. "So I give him a punch when I see him."

Though he's happy to talk about his family and his career, Chris is tight-lipped when asked if his wife Elsa Pataky's current pregnancy was planned. "Er, yes and no," the actor tells OUT. "I have to be elusive about that."
