The Hollywood Reporter -- Christian Kubsch is the new president of Method Studios, the visual-effects unit of Deluxe Entertainment Services Group. The company has also been evolving with the addition of CTO Darin Grant and planned expansion in London and Vancouver.
VFX vet Kubsch most recently served as president of Prana Studios, a VFX business with bases in Los Angeles and India. Prior to that, he served as executive vp and general manager of ImageMovers Digital; and earlier as the first managing director of Lucasfilm Animation in Singapore.

At Method, Kubsch reports to Stefan Sonnenfeld, a leading colorist who also serves as president of creative services at Deluxe.
Grant, who reports to Kubsch, joined Method last month after serving as CTO at Digital Domain. Kubsch and Grant will work with a Method team that includes VFX supervisor and chief creative officer Dan Glass.
Method -- whose recent credits include Cloud Atlas and Argo -- maintains a team of roughly 500 spread across bases in Los Angeles, London, Vancouver, Sydney, Melbourne, New York, Chicago, Detroit and Atlanta.
Acknowledging the troubling VFX business climate, Kubsch told The Hollywood Reporter: “I think the way to succeed is to expand to be in all different places where the motion-picture industry does business, but have combined resources.”

He sees it as a plus to be a part of Deluxe with its global footprint and assets, such as its high-speed network. He told THR that Method is taking over expanding space for its operations in London and Vancouver.
Current work includes upcoming Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, Iron Man 3, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Red 2, The Wolverine, White House Down and Mad Max: Fury Road.
Kubsch's earlier experience includes a stint as a production exec at DreamWorks Animation, and as a VFX producer at Industrial Light + Magic.
