DJ Pauly D Beats Out Snooki, The Situation for Jersey Shore Spinoff

DJ Pauly D is flying solo in 2011!

The 30-year-old Jersey Shore star has been named the first cast member to land his own MTV series, beating out costars Snooki, The Situation and JWoww (who were all in spinoff negotiations).

"At the heart of Jersey Shore is the unique and genuine cast and Pauly D. truly embodies both qualities," Chris Linn, Executive Vice President of Programming and Head of Production for MTV, tells UsMagazine.com in a statement.

DJ Pauly D (real name: Paul Delvecchio) recently closed the series option deal after filming a pilot with 495 Productions in September.

"He's distinguished himself onscreen as the fun-loving, well-coiffed and dependable guy you can't help but want to hang out with," Linn says of the reality star. "We know viewers are curious about his life away from the shore and we look forward to exploring new possibilities around that."

Before his spinoff hits the air, Delvecchio will appear alongside Snooki and the gang when Season 3 of Jersey Shore premieres January 3 on MTV.
