Ed Asner Hospitalized: Mary Tyler Moore Actor Treated for Exhaustion After One-Man Show

Ed Asner was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday, March 12 during a performance of his one-man show in Gary, Ind. The 83-year-old actor, known for his role as curmudgeonly boss Lou Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, is being treated for exhaustion, The Associated Press reports.

Asner's publicist Charles Sherman tells the AP that the beloved TV actor was transported by ambulance to a Chicago-area hospital after being taken off stage at the Marquette Pavilion. He is now "resting comfortably" and expected to be released Wednesday.

Asner has been touring the nation for over three years portraying President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in his one-man show, FDR. His son, Matt, told TMZ Wednesday, "My dad is doing fine. He was rushed to the hospital yesterday for being disoriented on stage."

Matt told TMZ that his father did not have a stroke and had been "feeling under the weather for a few weeks."

He added, "He is resting now at an Indiana hospital and is doing well and very grumpy, which with him is always a good thing."
