Eliza Coupe: I Only Dated My Husband Because He Looks Like Johnny Depp

Long before she married puppeteer, acting coach and Johnny Depp look-alike Randall Whittinghill, Happy Endings star Eliza Coupe had her sights set on another man: Leonardo DiCaprio.

The actress tells New York Magazine's Vulture she "was obsessed" with the 37-year-old actor during "the Growing Pains/What's Eating Gilbert Grape era, because he was super hot. I carried a laminated photo of him in my wallet and said he was my boyfriend. But no one believed me. They just thought I was a f-cking weirdo."

Coupe admits to still having a crush on Depp. "I literally only started dating my husband because he looked like Johnny Depp -- and he knows that. We've been together for 12 years, and he still looks like Johnny Depp."

The former Scrubs star, 31, is also a big fan of Michael Fassbender; she even created the web series "Why Won't You Talk to Me," in which she pretends to date the Inglourious Basterds actor, who is represented by a magazine cutout.

"Nothing is new here with Fassbender," Coupe says of her celebrity obsessions. "I've just taken it to the next level."

Though Fassbender famously appeared fully nude in 2011's Shame, Coupe doesn't want to see the actor's film about sexual addiction. "I don't want to see Shame," the New Hampshire native says. "I'm still in my own delusional world that I will get a real live showing of that amazing piece someday, and I don't want to ruin it before I see it with my own hands."

The third season of Happy Endings premieres Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
