Honey Boo Boo Beats Republican National Convention in Ratings
You better redneckognize!
More Americans watched TLC's controversial reality show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo on Wednesday night than the Republican National Convention.
According to Nielsen overnight ratings via The Hollywood Reporter, 7-year-old Alana Thompson ("Honey Boo Boo) and her self-proclaimed redneck family topped the RNC with nearly 3 million viewers tuning in for their fourth episode.
The show grew 30 perfect from last week and earned a 1.3 rating among adults 18-49. Fox News had a 1.2 adults rating in that same time period.
Honey Boo Boo's mom, June Shannon, explained to Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday why she thinks their show has become so popular. "A lot of people say they can relate to us," she explained. "Our fan base tells us that when they have a bad day they can be able to watch our show and be able to get a good laugh; I honestly laugh at the show too because it is kind of funny, because we know we have fun filming it. It's just all about having fun making memories."
