Joe Simpson, Jessica and Ashlee's Dad, Busted for DUI

Oh no, Papa Joe!

Jessica and Ashlee Simpson's father, Joe, was arrested for DUI on August 4, TMZ reports. The 54-year-old talent manager and TV producer was pulled over around 10 p.m. on Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks, California.

According to TMZ, officers believed Joe was intoxicated and arrested him on the scene. He was taken to jail and spent the night behind bars. The Texas native was released without having to pay bail at 9:41 a.m. on August 5.

Joe's case has not been sent over to prosecutors in the L.A. City Attorney's Office yet, according to TMZ. He will likely not be sent to jail, as this is his first offense.

A former Baptist minister and psychologist, Joe -- married to Tina -- became a grandfather for the second time when Jessica, 32, gave birth to daughter Maxwell Drew (with fiance Eric Johnson, 32) on May 1, 2012. "Beautiful baby girl," Joe tweeted. "What a miracle!" Joe's younger daughter, Ashlee, 27, has a 3-year-old son, Bronx, with ex-husband Pete Wentz, 33.
