Kelly Clarkson Rocks Hoodie, Covers Eminem's "Lose Yourself"

USMagazine, Tuesday, August 14, 2012, 4:30pm (PDT)

Who knew Kelly Clarkson and Eminem had so much in common?

Both performers, it turns out, really know how to lose themselves on stage -- something Clarkson, 30, proved during her Detroit concert last week when she covered Motor City native Eminem's "Lose Yourself."

In a nod to the hip hop icon's 8 Mile character, the "Stronger" singer donned a gray hoodie to rap and sing the 2002 single, which garnered an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2003.

Recently, the very first American Idol winner -- currently dating Reba McEntire's stepson, Brandon Blackstock -- opened up to Lucky magazine about not wanting to be defined by any one genre.

"Even though I'm a pop singer, I really have more the life of a country singer," Clarkson explained. "People act like there's this one set of rules to follow to be a pop star and I think, 'Well, you say I'm a pop star, so maybe that's not true.'"
