Lena Dunham Adopts a Rescue Dog, Names Him Lamby: Picture

Lena Dunham reached two milestones on Jan. 9.

Hours before she walked the red carpet at the Girls season 2 premiere in New York City, the 26-year-old Golden Globe nominee adopted a rescue dog from BARC Shelter in Brooklyn.

"Because no day is stressful enough on its own, meet Lamby Dunham," the HBO star wrote in an Instagram caption. "[My mom] and I sprung him this afternoon."

At the premiere, Dunham -- who is dating fun. musician Jack Antonoff -- spoke to New York Magazine's Vulture about her furry friend.

"He's just twelve pounds of bliss," the Girls creator gushed. "I have a feeling we're going to have a great life together. Unless you find out I've killed him in a few weeks!"

Girls premieres Sunday, Jan. 13, at 9 p.m. EST on HBO.
