Michelle Obama Urges Continued Prayers for 9/11 Families

Entertainment Tonight, Tuesday, May 3, 2011, 3:40pm (PDT)

First Lady Michelle Obama spoke out Tuesday as she addressed elementary school students about physical fitness, urging them to keep 9/11 families in their prayers.

According to ABC News, the First Lady told the crowd, "I want you all to listen, because given the recent things that have been going on, before we start I just wanted to say that looking out at all of you beautiful children, I can't help but think of all the children and all the families affected by the September 11 tragedy nearly 10 years ago. And they are all very much in our thoughts and our prayers, and we have to keep thinking about them, okay?"

The 9/11 tragedy has been at the forefront of news reports in recent days following the killing of Osama bin Laden on Sunday. Mrs. Obama spoke at an event on the South Lawn of the White House coordinated between ABC's "Live! with Regis and Kelly"'s Run Across America and her Let's Move! campaign to combat childhood obesity. "Live!"'s Run Across America features ultramarathon runner Dean Karnazes, who is running 40 to 50 miles per day for nearly 75 days -- from California to the "Live" studios in New York City!
