Conrad, 25, showed off her long blonde locks -- with light blue tips! -- on the red carpet.
"I didn't think anyone would even notice!" she told reporters. "I felt like such a rebel."
Earlier this month, the fashionista polled fans on her site thebeautydepartment about colored tips "because I was obsessed." Once results gave her a resounding "yes," Conrad got the coloring done at a salon in her native Laguna Beach.
Although pals told Us Weekly Conrad was "heartbroken" over her breakup with actor Howard, 33, she was chipper and upbeat at Tuesday's event -- with plenty of projects to keep her busy. "I have my two clothing lines, LC Lauren Conrad and Paper Crown, and I just finished the manuscript for my second book series The Fame Game."
Is the newly single star "married" to her career these days? "In a good way, I have a happy marriage," she said. "These are all things that I really enjoy doing, so it's a pleasure waking up every morning and I feel very lucky to have that."
