PIC: Dakota Fanning Goes Brunette!

USMagazine, Tuesday, October 16, 2012, 5:45pm (PDT)

Looks like the leaves aren't the only things changing color this fall. Twilight actress Dakota Fanning, 18, has undergone a seasonal makeover, too, trading her sunny blonde locks for chestnut brown tresses.

Fanning, who broke out as a child star in the 2001 film I Am Sam and is now a student at New York University, showed off her new, darker look in a photo posted on Instagram over the weekend. The caption read simply, "Well look who turned into a brunette!"

This isn't Fanning's first experiment with a new hair color. She donned a dark wig to play Robert De Niro's daughter in the 2005 movie Hide and Seek, and earlier this year, she dyed the tips of her hair bright pink.

"I try to do different things all the time. I try not to rely on trends. I think you just kind of work with what works for you," the actress told Us Weekly in March of her personal style philosophy. "My mom has told me that less is more and that you never want to look like you're trying too hard to be something that you may actually not be -- something that's not you."
