Ryan Gosling To Take a Break From Acting: "I Need a Break From Myself"

Hey girl … Ryan Gosling's starting to get sick of himself. The Place Beyond the Pines actor revealed in a recent interview that he's planning to go on a Hollywood hiatus in the coming months, saying that he needs time to "reassess."

"I've been doing it too much. I've lost perspective on what I'm doing," the 32-year-old actor told The Associated Press. "I think it's good for me to take a break and reassess why I'm doing it and how I'm doing it. And I think this is probably a good way to learn about that.

"I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does," the self-deprecating star continued.

Gosling, who has been in the entertainment industry since the young age of 8, as a member of Disney's Mickey Mouse Club, added that he is hoping to find some clarity by taking a much-needed step back.

"I don't know what I'm doing," he admitted. "I haven't quite figured out what the balance is between being able to be lost in it -- or try to, anyway -- and then step outside of it."

Before he disappears off the red carpet radar completely, however, Gosling will next star in The Place Beyond the Pines, opposite real-life girlfriend Eva Mendes, 39.

The silver screen heartthrob first made waves in the industry in his 2004 breakout role, as romantic lead Noah in the film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' romance book The Notebook.

But being thrust into the spotlight is something Gosling still isn't completely comfortable with, he tells the AP.

"There's a lot of pressure to be the lead of a film," he said. "I have done it. It's not my favorite way to work."

"The more opportunities I'm given, the more I learn about how easy it is to [expletive] it up," he added. "You fight for freedom and then you get it, and then you have enough rope to hang yourself. It's like trying to exercise some restraint because I do have so much freedom."
