Ryan Seacrest to Continue as 'American Idol' Host

Ryan Seacrest has decided to stick around as the host of American Idol, announcing that he will return to the long-running program.

"For the last 11 seasons, I've had the privilege to be a part of one of television's most iconic shows. It's been a wild ride, and I'm excited for my journey with American Idol to continue," Seacrest stated in a press release on Monday. "The legions of fans, amazingly talented contestants, judges, and producers, along with the hard working Idol crew, impress me every time we go on air and make hosting the show a dream job."

Seacrest has introduced every guest and winner of the singing competition since it premiered on June 11, 2002. In the decade that its been on the air, American Idol has become broadcast television's No. 1 show.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Seacrest secured a two-year contract worth $30 million.

"Ryan has been with American Idol from the very first day. I can't imagine the show without him," stated creator and executive producer Simon Fuller. "He is the consummate host and an exemplary professional. Having Ryan continue to be a part of the American Idol family is great news for everyone."

This news comes after Seacrest's announcement on Today that he will be taking on gigs for NBC including covering the Olympics.

"I plan to stay [at American Idol] -- I think there will be an official announcement very soon. It's a circus to run, but I love it," he told Matt Lauer, adding, "I'm used to juggling a whole bunch of things."

Idol airs Wednesday and Thursday nights at 8/7c on FOX.
