Sara Evans posted a no makeup photo of herself on July 29 that inspired her fans to do the same.

"I'm being brave and posting a picture of me without makeup!" she tweeted with the up-close photo of her face sans cosmetics.

The 41-year-old "Born to Fly" singer tells Us Weekly that the support she received after her fresh-face Tweet was inspiring.

"Getting the response that we did to the no makeup picture has truly been overwhelming," Evans tells Us. "It has been such a positive thing, because I've had fans that are tweeting pictures of themselves with no makeup. Now they can talk to their daughters about the fact that they don't necessarily need makeup."

Evans admits that she can be very hard on herself and hopes girls can embrace their natural beauty.

"I just think in general, girls are so hard on themselves -- and I know that I'm very critical of myself -- so to have this positive response that we've had has just really, really made me feel good," she added. "It was not a thought out thing that we did, it was just very on a whim to send that out."
