Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez had a romantic, grown-up evening -- in Lauren Conrad's homeland! -- on Saturday.

Before the pair finally took their romance public at an Oscars after-party on Sunday night, Bieber, 16, and Gomez, 18, stayed at a penthouse suite at the St. Regis Monarch Beach in Dana Point, Calif. (just outside Laguna Beach), a rep for the resort tells UsMagazine.com.

During their stay at the posh, five-star resort, the twosome were "affectionate, cuddling and holding hands" while on a stroll along the beach, the rep added.

Gomez and Bieber, who's about to embark on a worldwide tour, capped off the night with a four-star dinner at the resort's eatery Stonehill Tavern.

The next night, the couple arrived hand-in-hand at the the Vanity Fair Oscars party at the Sunset Tower Hotel -- their first red carpet appearance together since they began dating in December.
