Usher's Stepson's Family: "We Know God's in Control"

The family of Kile Glover -- Usher's former stepson -- is focused on prayer in the wake of Friday's tragic accident.

Kile, the Grammy-winning singer's 11-year-old stepson with his ex-wife Tameka Foster, was reportedly declared brain dead after he was struck in the head by a jet ski while riding an inner tube on Lake Lanier in Atlanta, GA.

"We know God's in control, and are leaning on our faith in Him and His word at this most difficult time," his family said in a statement to CNN on Tuesday. "We firmly believe in the power of prayer and ask that you all continue to pray and lift Kile up, as it's the best way we can all support him now."

According to ABC News, 38-year-old Jeffrey S. Hubbard, a friend of the family, was operating the jet ski at the time of the collision and is currently under investigation. "I don't know what's going to happen with the 11-year-old," Sgt. Mike Burgamy of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources said. "We're going to have to see what his condition is going to be before we present findings of the case."

Glover was riding with an unidentified 15-year-old girl at the time of the accident. Both were airlifted to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, and Glover reportedly registered no brain activity. The second victim is said to have suffered a broken arm and cut on her head. Burgamy explained, "A pontoon was pulling the two adolescents on an inner tube, and the personal water craft went over the top of them."

In the wake of the incident, Usher (real name: Usher Terry Raymond IV), 33, and Foster, who divorced in 2009 after two years of marriage, have put their differences aside to support each other. The former spouses had been engaged in a heated custody battle of their sons Usher Raymond V, 4, and Naviyd, 3.

The family has received much support from friends and fans on Twitter -- including Usher's protege, Justin Bieber.

"My prayers go out to Tameka Raymond and their whole family," Bieber, 18, tweeted Monday. "Keep them in your thoughts."

"We are all blessed to have this time here together to be able to share our lives together and live these stories. Don't take it for granted," Bieber added. "Be humble, be grateful, give back, share, pay it forward, chase your dreams, go for it, and take a moment to remember where it is all from."
