The daughter of actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, Angelina Jolie spent her teens studying the family business at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute and NYU. Her star rose quickly in the late ‘90s, thanks to her bee-stung lips, famous lineage (and strained relationship with dad) and back-to-back Golden Globe-winning performances in two TV movies, George Wallace and Gia. The next decade started with an Academy Award win for best supporting actress for Girl, Interrupted and ended with the top stop on The Hollywood Reporter’s list of highest-paid actresses. She’s dabbled in just about every genre from action (Tomb Raider) and animated (Kung Fu Panda) to drama (A Mighty Heart) and zany comedies (Playing By Heart). She also dabbled in directing with In The Land Of Blood and Honey, a foreign-language Bosnian War-set love story. It was her wild-child antics like cutting, bisexual liaisons, kissing her brother on the lips on TV, tattoos, using blood as an accessory and mental health clinic stays that most fascinated folks early on. She has a habit for falling for costars. She wed Jonny Lee Miller after Hackers and Pushing Tin’s Billy Bob Thornton. She calmed considerably after becoming a United Nations goodwill ambassador, adopting three children (Maddox from Cambodia, Zahara from Ethiopia and Pax from Vietnam), falling in love with Mr. & Mrs. Smith costar Brad Pitt and giving birth to Shiloh and twins Knox and Vivienne. The globe-trotting charitable couple announced their engagement in 2012.
