Penelope Cruz has made no secret of her desire to hear the pitter-patter of little feet. "I think I would be a perfect mother," she enthused last year. "I love babies." Now, speculation is running rampant that her great expectations have become a reality, with a little help from boyfriend Javier Bardem.

There's also her sudden fondness for bulky tops, which she was styling last week during a romantic sojourn with her beau in Barcelona. Shutterbugs captured the pair puckering up as they strolled the streets.

The baby talk has been burbling since May, when Penelope was a no-show for an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival to promote the forthcoming musical "Nine." She was reportedly suffering from food poisoning, which the tabloids not surprisingly translated to mean "morning sickness."
Cruz's spokeswoman did not respond to our request for comment on the stork chatter.
Penelope and Javier fell for each other in 2007 while shooting the Woody Allen-directed film "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," which earned her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar.
