Gwyneth Paltrow

Born to actress mother Blythe Danner and TV director father Bruce Paltrow, the blonde beauty grew up on sets and backstage but it wasn’t until the then 18 year old appeared opposite her mother in Picnic at the Williamstown Theater Festival that her parents encouraged her to skip university and go into the family business. She scored her first TV role in the1992 Cruel Doubt miniseries and a small part Flesh and Bone the following year made her one to watch. Then came a period defined more by her romancers than roles as she took up with Brad Pitt, after playing his wife in Se7en, and, after their engagement dissolved in December 1996, Ben Affleck. In 1999, she proved she was more than a pretty face with a popular paramour when she nabbed the Oscar for Shakespeare In Love and had the pick of the litter in terms of projects in the years that followed (The Talented Mr. Ripley, Bounce, The Royal Tenenbaums, Sylvia, Proof). In 2002, she went from groupie to girlfriend with Coldplay mastermind Chris Martin and by the end of the following year the comely couple was married and expecting their first child. Daughter Apple was born in 2004 and she became a sister in 2006 when Moses was born. The Ironman franchise star has proven multiple times in the last few years that her husband isn’t the only voice in the family. She guested on Glee, got her twang on in Country Strong and dueted with Cee Lo at the 2011 Grammys. She ventured into “how does she do it all” territory when she spearheaded her cooking and lifestyle website GOOP and authored her first cookbook, 2011’s My Father’s Daughter.
