Hairdos and Don'ts for Oct. 22

By Saryn Chorney
Please DON'T obsessively play with your hair on the red carpet like Lindsay Lohan here. It's just bad form, ladies. Oh, and DO dye your hair back to its natural, lovely shade of red if you look this fried as a platinum blonde.

DO utilize a curling iron to add an extra ounce of bouncy glam to already wavy hair. Mischa Barton's fairy tale tendrils remind us of her TV teen princess days on "The O.C." -- and that's not a bad thing.

I DON'T dream of Jeannie when I look at Ivana Trump's coif. And I doubt the Donald's former wife is trying to look like Senior Living Barbie either, but that's pretty much what she ended up with here.

We're happy to report that Shakira's she-wolf DO is more sultry lioness mane than wild dog mange.

We DON'T mind Katie Holmes' casually messy hair while she's out running errands with Suri, but we're not sure it's appropriate for a red carpet. And we bet Tom agrees. Tsk, tsk.

DO you love Jenna Elfman's '60s-inspired fringy bangs as much as we do? Accidentally on purpose great hair!

Hey, Bar Refaeli. We know you'd be gorgeous even if you shaved all your hair off, but still, DON'T ever underestimate the importance of a well-placed bobby pin.

We kinda hoped she'd bring back her old Wednesday Addams braids for the Spike Scream Awards, but Christina Ricci looks a-DO-rable with this short black pixie style, too.

Why DON'T these newfangled Hollywood starlets carry combs in their purses anymore? Shenae Grimes could certainly use one.

Alexa Chung could teach Shenae Grimes and Katie Holmes a thing or two about how to DO the red-carpet casual look and get it right. How is it that Brits are always so effortlessly elegant? *Sigh*
