Orlando Bloom

Spotlight

Orlando Bloom, a dyslexic, struggled in high school, eventually dropping out, but found great success studying acting with London’s National Youth Theatre and Guildhall School of Music. Shortly after making his big-screen debut in 1998’s Wilde, he fell three stories, broke several vertebrae, was temporarily paralyzed and was warned he might never walk again. Luckily for fans of elf warriors, he left on crutches and was able to accept the role of Legolas in Peter Jackson’s Lord of The Rings trilogy. After shooting Black Hawk Down in Morocco in 2001, he signed on for what would become another blockbuster trilogy, Pirates of The Caribbean, opposite Johnny Depp. While on a break from making movies in 2007, he hit the West End stage in the David Storey play, In Celebration. His star faded a bit after underperformers like Elizabethtown, Haven and The Three Musketeers, but perhaps it will shine once again after he revisits Legolas in The Hobbit: There and Back Again. People’s 2004 Hottest Bachelor and on-and-off boyfriend of Kate Bosworth from 2002-06 is now the proud husband of Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr (married 2010) and father of son Flynn (born 2011).
