British scientist says she penned call-girl blogThe Associated Press, November 15, 2009LONDON (AP) -- A British scientist has revealed she is Belle de Jour, the anonymous blogger whose accounts of life as a call girl were turned into a book series and TV show.Brooke Magnanti is quoted by the Sunday Times as saying she decided to reveal her secret because she was afraid an ex-boyfriend would expose her.The 34-year-old Magnanti is a child health researcher at the University of Bristol in western England.Magnanti says she turned to the sex trade in 2003 while finishing her PhD and worked for an escort agency for more than a year.Her blog about the experience formed the basis of three books and the TV series "Secret Diary of a Call Girl."Magnanti says her colleagues have been "amazingly kind and supportive" about the news.Wonderwall is the innovative and fun celebrity destination from MSN Entertainment and BermanBraun Interactive.
