You may think stars only stand up when their name is called at an awards show, but you'd be wrong. A long list of celebs aren't afraid to show their politically-active side, standing up for causes they believe in.
Take Lady Gaga for instance. She's known for dressing like a one-woman circus, but Gaga got about as buttoned-down as she can in September 2010, when she spoke to Congress about the need to repeal the U.S. military's ban on openly gay soldiers. Sure, she was wearing a meat dress just days before, but a year later, gay soldiers could actually serve.
