Conan O'Brien Discusses Career Options

Entertainment Tonight, Tuesday, January 12, 2010, 12:10am (PST)

During his opening monologue, Conan O'Brien poked fun of the late-night line-up shift on his home network of NBC.

“The Tonight Show” host started off by introducing himself as the new host of “Last Call with Carson Daly.” He then moved on to a news item from over the weekend, a 6.5 earthquake that shook up Northern California. He said, “It knocked Jay Leno's show from 10 o'clock to 11:35.”

The proposal from NBC is to have “The Jay Leno Show” air nightly at 11:35 p.m., “The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien” at 12:05 a.m., followed by “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” at 1:05 a.m. Conan did however, discuss a dozen other career options he is entertaining the thought of, including starring “in a Lifetime original movie about a woman trapped in an abusive relationship with her network.”

There is speculation that Conan could decide to jump to another network. In response to that prying question, he implied that he could: “Go to ABC and star in a male redhead version of ‘Cougartown' called ‘Redwolf Village.'” or “Move to FOX and follow their hit ‘24' with a new show called ‘24:05.'”

Conan did have one jab directly towards Jay Leno, saying, he could “convince NBC to let me keep this time slot if I can gain 10 pounds of chin.” Jay also shed light on these ongoing time-slot changes during his show on Monday night.
