Conan O'Brien Says He Has 'DWTS' Offer

Entertainment Tonight, Tuesday, January 19, 2010, 12:16am (PST)

Conan O'Brien told viewers that they can choose his next move on Monday night's episode of "The Tonight Show," amid reports that he soon will end his reign as host.

"This is real. I have been invited to compete on 'Dancing with the Stars," he said, going on to tell the audience, "There are so many jobs to choose from. I don't know which one to do. I thought, why not let the viewers decide. Go to TonightShow.com and register your vote. My future is literally in your hands."

But on a somewhat serious note, he said, "Of course, this has been a stunning couple of days for me, I have to tell you. It is a bit hard to accept that soon I won't have a show, but Snookie and The Situation [of MTV's 'Jersey Shore'] will. Only in America."

He also commented on "I'm with Coco" rallies that were held around the country Monday to support him, saying, "I have to talk about this because this really did lift my spirits. Apparently fans of our show organized rallies all around the country. That's sweet, very sweet. Today, there were 'I'm With Coco' rallies -- I can't do anything about the name apparently -- … in New York, Chicago, and Seattle. There was one even right here on the Universal lot, despite the fact that it was pouring rain outside. It was just raining unbelievably hard today and yet people turned out for this rally which is sweet. Very sweet."

Conan also continued with his jabs at "Tonight Show" network NBC, saying, "Last night at the Golden Globes Julia Roberts said that NBC was in the toilet. Yeah, NBC was upset and toilets were furious: "How dare you? How dare you besmirch the name of toilets?'"

Conan's status as host of "The Tonight Show" has been up in the air since NBC requested to move the show from 11:35 to 12:05 and Conan refused to host at that time. An announcement as to whether Conan will continue as host of "The Tonight Show" is expected as soon as Tuesday.
