The hush-hush September vow-swap of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds tops the winter 2013 issue of Martha Stewart Weddings, but the detailed, delicious-looking 10-page spread turns out to be notable for what it doesn't show, namely, the bride and groom.
Unlike such recent celebrity-approved wedding covers as Drew Barrymore, Matthew McConaughey and a leaping Justin Timberlake with Jessica Biel, Blake, 25, and Ryan, 36, are apparently seen in only one shot: a close-up of their clasped hands against the bride's beaded, rose gold-embroidered "cloudlike silk tulle" Marchesa ball gown.
Otherwise, the images of their "enchanting" nuptials outside of Charleston, S.C., focus on matrimonial minutia such as Blake's rose gold glitter-dipped bouquet featuring pink jasmine and blushing bride hydrangea, the reception's expansive, rustic-style dessert table laden with treats chosen by baking enthusiast Blake (mmmm … mini-tarts and S'mores bars) and the wedding cake (vanilla-and-sour-cream with peach-apricot preserves and Earl Grey-milk chocolate buttercream), all of which Stewart and her team helped design.
"They wanted to celebrate in privacy -- and in style," explains the mag. "We quickly discovered that Ryan and Blake are not like the many altar-bound celebrities who sell their big-day photos to the highest bidder. This public yet very private couple's sole wish was to have an intimate affair (there were only 35 guests total)."
And although the newlyweds "remain protective of images of them on their most heartfelt occasion," adds the magazine, "they graciously let us share pictures of the elements we created together."
The issue hits newsstands on Dec. 24. Keep clicking for more wedding photos and other pics of the low-key couple …
