"The kids asked me the other day, and I asked them if it was just because they wanted to have a big cake," laughs the twice-divorced Jolie, who is out promoting her directorial debut, "In the Land of Blood and Honey."

As for her relationship with Pitt, the Oscar-winning do-gooder credits their longevity (hey, seven years in Hollywood is like a golden anniversary in the real world) to sharing a similar mindset.

"Your ethics are the same, the way you approach the world is the same," she says. "Not just your love of art, but your sense of what is right and wrong, and your sense of the commitment your kids need from you, or your commitment to the rest of the world."

That seemingly includes Pitt's repeated assertion that they won't get hitched until, as he told Ellen DeGeneres in September, "everyone in this country [has] the right to get married."
