For eight years, Diane Kruger and Joshua have enjoyed a non-legally binding relationship. That's a good long time, especially by Hollywood standards, but are they finally ready to tie the knot? On Tuesday night in Los Angeles, the German actress flashed a sizable sparkler on her all-important finger as she exited a dinner party with Jackson.
While the three-tiered, diamond-and-ruby-encrusted bauble doesn't look much like a traditional engagement ring, the stylish pair hasn't exactly followed a traditional romantic path.
Kruger, 37, who divorced French actor-director Guillaume Canet in 2006 after five years of marriage, has repeatedly expressed her lack of enthusiasm for the institution of marriage.
"Without sounding pessimistic, I learned that I don't believe in marriage," she explained to Glamour in 2011. "I believe in a commitment that you make in your heart. There's no paper that will make you stay. A guy friend of mine said, and it made a lot of sense, that people should get married at the end of the road, not the beginning."
Jackson, 35, has taken a similarly nonchalant view toward holy matrimony.
"It's important for the people that it's important for, but neither one of us are particularly religious, so I don't think that there's any particular push," he said in 2012, not long after the couple shot down rampant engagement reports sparked by his purchase of a $45,000 necklace. "But never say never."
Still, sources tell People magazine that the actor "has had marriage on his mind in recent months," and he's "seemed ready to pop the question since last fall."
