Britney Spears and Jason Trawick are nearing the one-year anniversary of their engagement, and to mark the occasion, a steady drumbeat of rift rumors has begun. First up is Us Weekly, which says Trawick has grown tired of his fiancée's high-maintenance ways, including her "constant demands" that he "check in with her."
"The romance is gone," says a source, who alleges Jason puts Brit-Brit "on speakerphone so friends can hear her nagging."
Spears' rep denies that Trawick goes hands-free with the "X Factor" judge's purported henpecking and assures the magazine that the squeezes of three-plus years "are happy." But the insider sighs, "I'd be shocked if they got married."
"Britney and Jason had planned to get married at the end of December, but they have been fighting nonstop so the wedding has now been called off," asserts a spy. "They are telling their friends it's being postponed, but they will probably never make it down the aisle. Britney doesn't think Jason is any fun and resents him because he acts more like a second father than a romantic partner or equal."
You'll recall that Spears remains under a conservatorship put in place after her 2008 meltdown, with Trawick, who's also her onetime agent, and her dad, Jamie, allowed to make life decisions for her.
A rep for Britney dismisses talk that the nuptials have been called off, insisting they were never planned for December in the first place.
