It's easy to hate on Lindsay, what with her epically entitled attitude, consistent bad behavior and addiction to drama. In her world, actions never result in serious consequences, not even when probation is violated.
But that may be changing, albeit in the saddest, most depressing way possible.
On Wednesday night, Lindsay posed at the Los Angeles launch of video game "Saints Row: The Third," and her seemingly deteriorating appearance lit up the Interwebs.
Lohan, 25 (25!), seemed pleased with how she looked, working the red carpet like she was at the Oscars: smiling with lidded eyes, puffy cheeks and what some outlets billed as "decaying" teeth; tossing her ripped-from-Barbie's-head extensions; and flashing hands stained with nail polish and other debris.
Is Lindsay's lifestyle finally catching up to her, despite her supposed attempts at healthy living (earlier this week, she tweeted about unsuccessfully trying to add nutrient-packed kale to her diet)?
Right now, some of you are saying, "Quit picking on her! She's doing the best she can."
Except she isn't.
Taking responsibility is far less important to Lindsay than clubbing with her mom, or jetting to New York for Fashion Week, or hitting a video game launch.
If Lindsay really wanted to get her life together, she'd focus on completing her court-ordered community service, or buckling down in therapy (the lousy-parents excuse lasts only so long), or take acting lessons to prove she's serious about salvaging what's left of her career.
But change takes hard work. And it's so much easier for Lindsay to blame others for her life's trajectory than to take responsibility and admit she might need help.
Does that mean we don't have sympathy for her? No. That she's oblivious to her altered appearance is heartbreaking and makes us fear what's ahead.
Next week, Lindsay is due in front of Judge Stephanie Sautner for a status update. Until then, click on for more worrying pics of LiLo from Wednesday night ...
