John Travolta, his wife Kelly Preston and their daughter Ella Bleu made an emotional public appearance at their hometown of Ocala, FL on Friday night, as John thanked the crowd for supporting him and his family after the loss of his son, Jett.
The Associated Press reports that the Travoltas made their first public appearance at a screening of Disney's 'Old Dogs,' while helping to raise money for charity.
Travolta was noticeably emotional, according to the AP, as he thanked his fans for being supportive of his family after the tragic death of his 16-year-old son Jett last January.
"We know that we are loved," he told the crowd, according to the AP. "We appreciate it. Jett appreciates it. We love you, Ocala."
The Travoltas helped raise at least $37,500 for five nonprofit organizations, including The Jett Travolta Foundation, Project Hope, the Humane Society of Marion County, Florida Highway Patrol Advisory Council and the Marion County Public Safety Assistance Trust.
'Old Dogs' opens in theaters Wednesday.
