Jordin Sparks has a lot riding on her feature film debut, "Sparkle." But no matter what happens to her career after the remake hits theaters on Aug. 17, it's clear that the "American Idol" winner cherishes the memories she made working with her idol, the late Whitney Houston. Sparks gets candid in the new issue of Redbook about what it was like to work with Whitney and what she was really like.

"For me, she took on the mother role because my parents weren't there [during film production]. She was always asking: Did I feel comfortable? Did I need anything?"
