Is Lindsay Lohan's dad Michael looking to rescue his bank account while trying to "save" his troubled offspring?
The New York Post claims the leading contender for most unsavory father of the year (he's pulling ahead of onetime pal Jon Gosselin) attempted to score $100,000 to hand over private recordings featuring the spiraling starlet and his ex-wife, Dina.

But it seems the TV networks, in a rare show of good taste, passed on the offer, and Papa Lohan reportedly ended up cutting a deal with Radar Online that netted him nothing for the taped conversations.
"Michael initially asked for a large fee -- six figures -- for the tapes of Lindsay and Dina, but he didn't get any takers," a source tells the paper. "Radar Online also refused to pay for the tapes, so in the end he agreed to a deal to release the recordings for no fee, but giving him the exposure he needs with a paid interview."

On the tapes, Lindsay sobs, "No one cares about me," while Dina can be heard complaining that her issues-plagued daughter tried to "punch me in the face" during an apparent attempt to get her into rehab.
In the latest audio reveal, reportedly recorded during Lohan's 2008 stint on "Ugly Betty," her assistant heatedly tells her dad, "I am trying to save your daughter's life every day ... I give up my boyfriend and my dog and my parents and my new place in LA and everything so that your daughter doesn't kill herself, okay?"
Michael insists he's releasing the phone convos in order to force LiLo into treatment, and he denies that he attempted to nab a six-figure payday, telling the paper it's "a complete lie."
But he's more evasive when asked if he received cash for an interview, sidestepping, "That's in the hands of my lawyers. They deal with that."
Adds Michael, unconvincingly, "This isn't about money or getting paid, it's about saving my daughter."

His daughter, however, wants nothing to do with the man she's called "disgusting" and "a lunatic" in recent days, which is understandable given his release of the tapes and his contention last week that "God is taking her entire career away from her. Because she's forsaken everything He's given her and she's done nothing but misuse all the gifts she's given."
(Because obviously the Almighty has nothing better to do than punish Lindsay by limiting her employment opportunities.)
Anyhoo, the sometime actress has been keeping busy since her return to Los Angeles late last week from a promotional appearance in Morocco, where she did not lock lips with Gerard Butler (that's according to an apparently offended Gerard Butler).
Lohan, 23, celebrated her homecoming by hitting several clubs, but the good times didn't seem to rolling on Friday night, when she appeared to be in tears while exiting Crown Bar.
Lindsay's mood brightened on Saturday as she did some shopping at Church boutique and later swung by a private shindig at Leonardo DiCaprio's house, which she didn't leave until the wee hours (and with a big, bleary-eyed smile on her face).
On Sunday, she tweeted that she was "working on and off," although it turns out she may have blown a major opportunity last week. According to Radar, Lohan skipped a critical business appointment.
"This meeting was very important for her career," says an insider. "She simply failed to appear and never called to even cancel."
