Mayer hates his tabloid imageWENN, November 17, 2009John Mayer hates his status as a tabloid target, insisting he's done nothing to deserve the intense and often negative press attention he receives.The guitarist was thrust into the public consciousness thanks to his high profile relationships with Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston.
His connection with fans through social networking site Twitter.com have also exposed him to criticism and claims he's more interested in fame than musical success.
But Mayer insists his critics have got him all wrong.
He tells Associated Press, "I didn't really kill anybody. I didn't smash a car, I didn't commit a crime... I don't like the idea that there's an indictment on anything that I do.
