How is the collection inspired by your family?
There's one piece dedicated to my mother, and that would be this bracelet [I'm wearing now]. There's one dedicated to Paul. But the story behind the jewelry's really simple. I wanted to make something that felt timeless and that didn't have a particular trend involved with it.
I've always felt really inspired by my grandmother, who's an artist. I sort of broke into her shed, and I was looking at a lot of her work that she keeps hidden. I felt so inspired by some of the themes, and I wanted to create stuff that stemmed from that. Since I was a little kid, I've been obsessed with drawing sunflowers, and I never knew why. I went into my grandma's studio, and she has these tables that she made that are all sunflowers, and they're in similar patterns to what I do. I don't know if it was something subconscious, like I was 2 years old running around and seeing this and it just sort of made its way into my brain, but since I was 3 years old, I've been drawing these things. It's like my go-to. So I feel really connected to my grandmother and a lot of her art.
