Madonna Distracted Onstage by J.Lo's Pointed Stare, Ponytail
It's been more than a decade since Jennifer Lopez publicly called out Madonna's acting skills (or lack thereof), but their rivalry is apparently still going strong. In a phone chat with Ryan Seacrest on KIIS-FM on Thursday, the Big M admits she didn't see the ubiquitous, pocket-size host front-and-center at one of her concerts, chalking up the oversight to the fact that J.Lo was standing next to him. "Maybe that's why I didn't notice you, because I was getting super-sharp looks from [Jennifer]," revealed Madonna. "Her ponytail distracted me." But the marriage-dissing pop icon understands the celebrity eyeballing. "Whenever artists come to see my show, I always see they're studying me," she explains. "I'm sure every artist feels that way ... I would watch a show the same way." When Seacrest assures Madonna that Lopez "likes you" (but presumably not likes her, likes her), she responds, "I'm not saying she doesn't." Rumors of a rivalry date back to 1998, when J.Lo told Movieline, "Do I think [Madonna] is a great performer? Yeah. Do I think she's a great actress? No. Acting is what I do. I'm like, 'Hey, don't spit on my craft.'" In response, Madonna supposedly froze out Lopez during a Donatella Versace-hosted dinner party a couple years later, although it was reported that they kissed and made up in 2003.
