After months of being out of the spotlight, Joaquin Phoenix surfaced Thursday night.

And, to the delight of female fans everywhere, he's lost that scraggly beard and is clean cut again!

Phoenix, 35, joined ex Liv Tyler to tape a promo for To Write Love on Her Arms, a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. In another promo spot, Phoenix even jokes around with Miley Cyrus, who is also doing work for TWLOHA. She teaches him who Lady Gaga is.

Last year, Phoenix, more disheveled than ever, had fans scratching their head when he began making bizarre public appearances, claiming that he quit acting and was becoming a rapper.

At the time, Casey Affleck, his brother-in-law, had filmed all of Phoenix's outbursts, claiming he was shooting a documentary. But many thought Phoenix's antics were just part of an elaborate hoax.
