Despite having a rich career beginning in 1952, Maggie is best known for playing professor Minerva McGonagall in the "Harry Potter" films. Earlier this year, Maggie won an Emmy for her role as Violet Crawley on "Downton Abbey." Maggie became a widow in 1998 when her second husband, playwright Beverley Cross, died. In 2007, it was revealed that Maggie had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She made a full recovery.
