Howling at the (New) Moon

By Sabrina Cognata
Lately, beguiling hits like âThe Twilight Saga,â âVampire Diariesâ and âTrue Bloodâ have everyone obsessing over how hot vampires are. But what about their raw, clawed werewolf counterparts? After all, they are the bad boys of the horror genre -- and isnât that what every girl wants? Click through to see our list of the most tantalizing wolf men in cinematic history.
Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon"
Itâs no surprise that Jacob is our number one werewolf crush, and why shouldnât he be? Heâs there to defend Bella Swan when she needs him most, and he looks fantastic without his shirt on. Or so says our inner 17-year-old who is allowed to say such things about a teenage wereboy.

Scott Speedman as Michael Corvin in "Underworld"
Speaking of shirtless sexiness, we nominate former "Felicity" hunk Scott Speedman as most underrated werewolf hottie. Besides, Michael Corvin might one day morph into a werewolf/vampire hybrid, and you know what that means: double the sexy danger.

Michael J. Fox as Scott Howard in "Teen Wolf"
Possibly our first teen werewolf crush, Scott Howard comically undergoes all the woes of adolescence in addition to, you know, becoming a werewolf. And he does so gracefully, winning the whole student body's love (as well as the hot girl and the girl-next-door) along the way.
Honorable mention goes to Jason Bateman, who picked up the pointy dentures in "Teen Wolf Too."

Tom Everett Scott as Andy McDermott in "An American Werewolf In Paris"
Apparently the consequences of werewolf bites from sultry French women translate into stellar abs and piercing blue eyes. Anyone know how to say, âYes, please!â in French? Perhaps ... Oui, sâil vous plait, wolfie!

Michael Jackson as the Wolfman in âThrillerâ
Michael Jackson pinpointed scary-sexy in "Thriller," devolving from romantic lead to werewolf to zombie all throughout the course of one epic music video. If there's one thing the late MJ was, it's a master of mysterious transformation.

David Thewlis as Professor Lupin in the "Harry Potter" films
Werewolves are usually pegged as cold, blood-thirsty souls, but not Professor Lupin. He tries hiding his werewolf-iness from Harry and the Hogwarts gang in order to continue teaching. A man devoted to his work harboring a secret identity? Now that's what we call sexy.

Benicio Del Toro as Lawrence Talbot in "The Wolfman"
So, the movie isnât out yet, but there is no denying that Benicio is going to be one heart-throbby lycanthrope. The film arrives in theaters Feb. 12, 2010, right in time for Valentine's Day, with co-star Emily Blunt as the Victorian damsel in distress. A tortured and lovelorn wolfman? We cannot wait.

Lon Chaney Jr. as The Wolf Man/Larry Talbot in 1941's "The Wolf Man"
And finally, we credit the O.G. "Wolf Man," Mr. Lon Chaney himself. So maybe he doesn't win sexiest werewolf in the looks category, however, his raw paw power set the bar for future sexy werewolves. Ar-ar-arooo!
