The Shortlist for Dec. 6

Wyclef Jean's new six-song EP, "If I Were President: My Haitian Experience," hits iTunes Tuesday, giving the rapper-turned-pseudo-politico a new reason to complain about why he should have been allowed to run for president of Haiti, despite his Jersey mailing address. 'Clef likens his presidential bid to the lightning bolt that created his short-lived '90s band, the Fugees. "I had an epiphany that I would start a group in my basement and it would be the biggest group in the world – that was the Fugees," he says of the band, which fell apart after releasing just two albums. "I had a new epiphany to come help this country." And although he "wasn't trying to be a martyr," as he claims on the new track, "Death Threats," Wyclef admits that, well, his fans chalk him up to one anyway. "Fans on Twitter call me the modern-day Fela [Kuti] or [Bob] Marley or [Bob] Dylan," he tells the Guardian. Too bad Haitian officials don't get their laws from the Twitterverse, eh, 'Clef? (Guardian)
