"Oh, Jason Segel you're the ring to my Smeagol, won't you sing a quirky ballad just for me? Now, I know you're super busy what with Sarah Marshall and Miss Piggy, but I swear I'm worth your time just wait and see." That's how an ode to the "Muppets" star written and performed on YouTube by Chicago resident Chelsea Gill begins. As the ditty -- sung in the online video by a guitar-strumming Gill -- continues, she asks him out on a date: "Have a drink with me, oh Mr. Segel can't you see? I'm trying hard to impress, you're so [bleep]ing hot, but I digress." Over the weekend, Chelsea and her tribute tune got a Hollywood ending. "My favorite thing, maybe ever," Segel tweeted after seeing the video. Then, making good on his declaration of appreciation, Jason showed up in Chicago on Saturday and took Chelsea and her twin sister out for drinks at the Ritz-Carlton, then to the Chicago Film Critic Awards. "He's really a wonderful person," Chelsea told the Chicago Tribune. "He is so down to earth, sweet and humble; just a sweetheart." "Life's a Happy Song," indeed! (Tribune)
