Speaking to Vanity Fair in the magazine's November issue, Johnny Depp sounds more resigned to than satisfied with his fame. "Basically, if they're going to pay me the big money right now, I'm going to take it ... for [my] kids," the "Rum Diary" actor admits. He sounds equally disheartened about the promotion circuit. Explaining why he hates doing photo shoots, Depp says, "You just feel like you're being raped somehow. Raped. The whole thing. It feels like a kind of weird — just weird, man." Not surprisingly, the comparison of a photo shoot to sexual assault has not been received well by anti-sexual-violence groups. “I am truly sorry for offending anyone in any way," Depp amended in an apology this week. "I never meant to. It was a poor choice of words on my part in an effort to explain a feeling. I understand there is no comparison, and I am very regretful. In an effort to correct my lack of judgment, please accept my heartfelt apology." (VanityFair; Radar)
