Jake Gyllenhaal on Heath Ledger's death: 'It felt like losing a family member'
James Lipton recently asked Jake Gyllenhaal his famous 10 questions on an upcoming episode of "Inside the Actors' Studio." And in a teaser released by Bravo, it looks like plenty of time is spent on Jake's friendship with "Brokeback Mountain" co-star, Heath Ledger, and the effects that film had on his career.
"Heath and I knew each other for years before that because we had both auditioned for 'Moulin Rouge' together. I remember thinking, 'I like this guy.' He's just like, super lovable," Jake says. Asked to comment on Ledger's death, Gyllenhaal admits, "It felt like losing a family member, and it still does to this day."
In the segment, the actor also addresses rumors of homosexuality that swirled around him following the release of "Brokeback Mountain." From the sound of things, he took them instride, seeing them as a tribute to his acting ability. "It's a huge compliment," he says. Gyllenhaal's "Inside the Actors Studio" Q&A airs Sept. 19.
