Darlene Love Recovering at Home After Pre-Show Heart Attack

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Darlene Love suffered a heart attack before a concert in New Jersey over the weekend, but still played the show.

The soul star, who played Danny Glover's wife in the "Lethal Weapon" films, experienced stomach and chest pains before her gig in Asbury Park, but she took painkillers and hit the stage.

When the pain turned to agony the following day, Love was taken to the hospital, where doctors informed her that she had had a heart attack and was close to death.

Love tells local radio station WCBS, "We caught it before it got bad, and I went in and had the procedure done."

Love, who celebrated her 74th birthday on Thursday, spent two days in the hospital, and now she's looking forward to getting back onstage, adding, "They told me I'd be fine in a couple of days. I can go back to my regular routine."
