Fat-Gate Follow-Up: Adele Showered in Chanel Handbags?

• Could it be that designer-cum-Death Eater Karl Lagerfeld has a heart after all? And while we don't want to dwell too long on where he might have acquired the organ (though we suspect it went something like this), the London Sun claims he's still trying to make amends with Adele for cattily calling her "a little too fat" back in February.

  The Chanel overlord's version of saying saw-wee supposedly includes sending the Grammy-winning chanteuse a mountain of purses.

  "He told his team to send Adele the best the fashion house have to offer after hearing she collected bags," alleges a source. "He's annoyed with himself because he ended up insulting her when he meant to compliment her. He thinks she's beautiful and calls her divine."

  What's more, "He said he really wanted to make it up to her so they could maybe work together in the future," continues the spy. "He could see her fronting a campaign for Chanel Mademoiselle bags when the contract with Blake Lively ends."

  Lagerfeld, 78, attempted to mitigate the "fat" fallout by insisting that his words were taken out of context and calling Adele, 23, a "beautiful girl."

  Chances are, the singer isn't too worried about Karl's criticisms, especially now that she's apparently focused on embracing a healthy lifestyle with her philanthropist boyfriend, Simon Konecki.

  According to the London Daily Mail, the couple has lost several pounds apiece after adopting a vegetarian diet and starting a new exercise regimen.

  "The weight is dropping off them, and they plan to keep dieting until the end of April," maintains a snitch. "They are inseparable. They are losing weight together, getting fit together and planning a future together. Adele says she's doing her best work and feels healthier than she has for months."

  Adele, who is back in the pink following throat surgery, told People in February that she "never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines. I represent the majority of women and I'm very proud of that."
