John Mayer Sued Over Ponzi Scheme Money

  • John Mayer is part of a $100 million Ponzi scheme lawsuit, as the singer might be in possession of as much as $465,000 in dirty money, TMZ reports.

    Darren Berg, was sentenced to 18 years in prison for running a Ponzi scheme in Seattle, that stole $100 million from inverstors through his investment company. Trustees charged with recovering the lost money are trying to track down where those millions went, and according to new legal documents, one of the people who received dirty funds from Berg's Ponzi scheme is John Mayer -- when a booking agency was allegedly paid by Berg's company.

    Mayer's lawyer tells TMZ, "John Mayer performed at a corporate event in 2008 and was paid for his services. The opportunity was brought to John through his talent agency, CAA.”

    A judge has yet to rule on the case.
